Hold salary of directors till pensioner gets benefits: HC

JAIPUR: Rajasthan high court has directed the government to stop the salaries of the directors of primary education, secondary education and department of pension till its orders to clear the arrears of a pensioner are honoured. The pensioner has been waiting for her retirement benefits for the past 16 years.
The single bench of Justice K S Alluwalia's order followed on the petition by Ram Kumari Anwara who retired in 1999 as head mistress.

Counsel for the petitioner Tarun Chaudhary said after her retirement she was not given the pension benefits by the department on some frivolous grounds and due to lack of inter-departmental co-ordination. She then approached the court in 2001 and the high court in 2010 while allowing her writ petition asked the department of education to disburse her pension benefit arrears with 6% interest.
When the department failed to comply with the court order she moved a contempt petition in 2011. The court while expressing its disappointment asked the director of primary education Babulal Meena present in the court about time it required to comply with court orders.
The court posted the matter for hearing on March 15, 2016.
